The Team.
It’s not often that hip young fashion lines are named after a religious educator. But Duerr, the newest thing to hit Metro Manila's fashion scene, indeed takes its name from Duerr Hall (then the home of the St. Benilde School of Design and Arts' Fashion Laboratory), where the four young fashion entrepreneurs behind the brand first met.
Loralee Baron, Ina Enrile, Cheryl Tantengco, and Anthony Sandoval were blockmates taking up Fashion Design and Merchandising back in 1998, and when they began to envision their new clothing line in 2007, they decided to give a nod to their fashion education roots by naming the brand after their college home. The irony that two of them eventually left the school hasn't escaped them, and Cheryl jokingly notes that their old professors might be surprised to see what they've accomplished.
Even after they parted in college, they've all consistently gravitated towards the fashion world: Cheryl began commercial and print modeling; Ina took up Fashion Design at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Australia; Anthony majored in Fashion Design at the Art Institute of New York and the Fashion Institute of Technology; and Loralee continued her fashion education in Milan's Istituto Marangoni, graduating Summa Cum Laude from her master's degree in Fashion Brand Management.
Now they're using their combined experience and love for fashion to bring Duerr to the public, with each playing an important role in the team. Their designs begin with Cheryl's imaging and designing, and are honed with Ina's creative and technical design skills; Anthony lends his keen eye to selection of materials, and infuses the team with new ideas and inspiration gleaned from his work in New York's fashion industry; and Loralee handles the marketing and financial aspects of the business. Their skills and ideas often complement and overlap, allowing them to stay true to a single vision for their brand, while introducing new ideas and innovations.
